In the Seimiglia di Camaiore the Befana is a beloved and heartfelt holiday that has seen generations of children waiting anxiously and a little fearfully for the arrival of the witch. good, ugly and naughty, but above all good and sweet like dates and dried figs, walnutsmandarins, xchocolatesugar charcoal. And generous: the befana brings a sack full of the last gifts of the Christmas season. With presents and, above all, with mandarin punch, the grown-ups celebrate in their own way, listening and singing the new song every year, more beautiful every year. At the end, everyone dances with the befanotti and the befana, except the little ones who are too scared and hide under the table. When you say "the befana comes Befana"In the Seimiglia, this means the children's choir together with the orchestra. and the real dancing Befana. To see and hear them is a great emotion and we have missed them so much this year.
When we say "la Befana" in the Seimiglia we mean the chorus of the befanotti together with the orchestra!
How many nights have you spent like this?! Who remembers when we sang for Giorgio Gaber and he asked for an encore? And the late nights in the last house of the tour! This year, because of the Covid, on the night of the 5th of January, we didn't hear the music, we didn't see the lights of the float carrying the Befana, we didn't dance in the cold of the night, we weren't moved by the notes and the words, old and new.
At the Foresteria Cerù we would have received the last visit of the Befana, before she took away all the festivities, and we would have sung and danced, wished each other a happy New Year and spent a few carefree hours.... We were also going to present to all those present the new space being created in Gombitelli... We'll have to postpone that until the next time... In the meantime, we can thank the Befana, who got all dressed up and then remained locked down. The Foresteria Cerù would have made the beautiful hall of the former restaurant available for the last festive revelry. Maybe next year! In the meantime we watch and re-watch the Befana videos.
